Trawling my Facebook feed today, I noticed that Doshy linked to a compilation he has a track on. When I got home, I downloaded Mad-Hop Vol. 1 and started listening to it…always pays to listen to a free compilation, of course. Holy shit, there is some ridiculous beats on this thing. Anyway, it reminded me I hadn’t posted anything in awhile and I thought I would look through my 2011 downloads and mixes folders to see what’s up. Check these gratis music releases.…now!

Mad-Hop Vol. 1

AEED — Titles (Jumble)

I linked to a compilation from Jumble in my 2010 round-up and they quickly followed up with this full album from a producer named AEED. Hallucinogenic space beats.

Joe Muggs - Thousand Tons Dream Mix

Joe Muggs is a music journalist I look up to a lot. Not only does he have impeccable taste but he's authored some of the absolute best interviews in the game I've ever read. You'd do well to head over to his VeryVeryMuch site and check him out. He did an unbelievable mix for Surefire Agency recently.

Jams F. Kennedy - A Heart-Breaking Work of Swagger & G Ness

No earthly idea how I cam across this mix. I completely confess ignorance about Jams F. Kennedy but I gather he's a legend. This half-original/half-remix mix is big, badass, and poignant. Just listen.

Michael Weldon - Type Tribute Mixes

Long-time readers know how big a fan I am of Type Records. Even though my obsessive Type collecting has waned in the past couple years, I'm still a fan and this 90 minute trip down memory lane makes my heart swell for them. Also, John Twells endorses so what are you waiting for?

Chairman Kato - Sonic Router Mix #67

Chairman Kato's EP Wildfire (Pictures Music) is a deft beats and textures workout, a release I'm a big fan of. His mix for Sonic Router shows just where his influences on those two elements come from. Starting out with Leyland Kirby? CLASS!

Demdike Stare - Needle Exchange 053

I've lately become a massive fan of these guys. I stupidly never picked up Symbosis but got sucked in this past month by the mega Tryptych collection of 12" from 2010. This stuff tickles my Broadrick/Harris/Martin/Everall obsession from the late 90s to no end. Back when Multicide and Lull were the most important things in my universe. Their mix for Self-Titled is a collection of influences and faves. The Wolfgang Dauner track is particularly ace.
